Pomona Artwalk on Second Saturdays

I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the Pomona Artwalk happening tonight. Many local Claremont artists have their first shows in the Pomona Artists Colony, and many of them return there throughout their careers. This link will take you to a postcard page for all of the gallery shows.

One of the highlights tonight is at Bunny Gunner which has a show, “All U Can Eat” featuring literally dozens of local artists. Bunny Gunner is an art gallery, graphic design studio, sign shop, and frame shop specializing in conservation, museum and gallery framing. The owners, framer Susie Eaton and artist Juan Thorp, also live on the premises.

I also recommend a stop at AMOCA, a respected ceramic museum with a new contemporary exhibition opening tonight, “Ceramics for the New Millennium.” This from their press release:

“AMOCA offers an extraordinary scientific exploration of the many interactive uses for clay. See how your every-day life is improved by the multitude of innovations and inventions that use ceramic technology. The exhibition, Ceramics for the New Millennium is an unfamiliar departure from the museum’s usual art themed shows, providing a behind-the-scenes look at the complex role that ceramics plays in manufacturing and alternative processes used in today’s industry.”

The photo above is from Andi Campognone Projects at 300 W. Second Street. They have a Steven Poster photography installation running through February 19, 2011. Steven Poster is a cinematographer/director of photography known for his work on Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Blade Runner, and Donnie Darko among others.

See you there.
