A.D. Coleman and Treasure MammaL on February 17, 2011

A.D. Coleman will be giving a curator’s lecture today at 4:30 at Pomona College Art Museum. This is part of their Thursday Art After Hours event running through April. If you aren’t familiar with Coleman, here is a short bio from his wikipedia page:

“Coleman was the first photo critic for the New York Times, authoring 120 articles during his tenure. He started writing in 1967 and has contributed to the Village VoiceNew York Observer and numerous magazines, artist monographs and other publications worldwide. He has received the first Art Critic’s Fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts in 1976 and was a Fulbright scholar in 1994. He was named one of “The Top 100 People in Photography” by American Photo Magazine.”

If you stay late at the museum, there’s also a concert at 9:00 by Treasure MammaL, a musician/inspirational speaker whose first album in 2006 was an attempt to make music “that sounded like a Robert Rauschenberg piece.” This is a link to a youtube video for his song Best Friends Forever (the image above is the album cover):

Have fun. I can’t make it tonight but I’d love to hear how it was.
