Artist Wendell Gladstone returns to Claremont Graduate University on Wednesday March 9, 2011

CGU Art is a graduate program with a track record of accepting and graduating very talented people. That’s why I recommend visiting the CGU Art thesis exhibitions and that’s why I love their artist lecture series.

For the lecture series, CGU Art alumni come back to visit student studios in the daytime and give a public lecture in the evening. This Wednesday, LA artist Wendell Gladstone, class of ’98, will be back on campus. Gladstone has been a rising star since leaving the program and today often exhibits at The Kravets/Wehby Gallery in New York. His paintings are created from Photoshop collages he meticulously details before putting on canvas. There are several stories he’s telling in each of his paintings, and the fun, as a viewer, is to hear those stories with your eyes and see how, maybe, your own story wends into the images too.

The talk is in the Albrecht Auditorium at 4:30pm (here’s a map). See you there.
