Artist Todd Hebert at CGU on April 13, 2011

Todd Hebert is a painter and he’s coming Wednesday to talk to the CGU Art grad students and anyone else who’d like to come listen. He makes blurry Pop Art paintings with an airbrush that seem sort of festive and sad at the same time. His favorite subjects have been individual snowmen, fireworks, sparklers, water bottles – no people. Hebert has showing locally at the Mark Moore Gallery and has been reviewed in the NYTimes, Art Review, and of course by our local David Pagel in the LA Times. The announcement below arrived in my inbox yesterday. See you there:

This year’s CGU Art Atlantic Lecturer, Todd Hebert, will be presenting an artist talk for the public on Wednesday, April 13th at 4:30 p.m. in Burkle 14 in the Burkle Family Building located at the southwest corner of Drucker Way and Dartmouth in Claremont.  A reception will follow the lecture in the CGU Art Building Lobby.

Mr. Hebert recently exhibited solo shows in LA at Mark Moore in 2009 and in New York at Jack Shainman in 2010.  The artist is a recipient of numerous awards, fellowships and grants including:

2005 Aldrich Museum of Contemporary At Emerging Artist Award

2000-2001 Eliza Prize, The Core Program, Glassell School of Art, Houston, TX

1999-2001  Fellow, The Core Program, Glassell School of Art, Houston, TX

1998  Fellow, Fine Arts Work Center, Provincetown, MA
